What is Pupil Premium? Pupil Premium is additional funding given to schools so that they can support their disadvantaged pupils and close the gap in attainment between themselves and their peers. It was introduced in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have registered for free school meals (FSM) at any point since the funding was introduced. Code-A-Drone with MAKE. On Saturday we marked our first time working with Make. During the day we travelled over to the venue to deliver Lego Stop Motion and Code-A-Drone workshops. In Code-A-Drone, we specifically use an application called Tynker to build and piece the commands for the drone to then receive. This is a brief introduction of physical coding in action. This Autumn half term saw hosting our first ever code-a-drone workshop with Chester Storyhouse. We ran two sessions that were both greatly received and we hope that this is the first of many fun workshops we will be running at Storyhouse. Chester Storyhouse is a new public building which opened in May 2018. The recently renovated cinema located in the heart of Chester was funded by; Cheshire West and Chester Council, Arts Council England and other trusts and foundations. Once again we held our innovative Code-A-Drone Workshop over in Runcorn thanks to being commissioned by Cheshire Autism Practical Support (CHAPS). CHAPS are an Autism support group, based in Runcorn and Widnes. They hold Youth Clubs every fortnight for young people on the ASD spectrum, including Asperger syndrome and ADHD. On Friday, we travelled over to Halton Play Council to deliver a fun and educational taster session to the young people of CHAPS to demonstrate how coding using an iPad can lead into piloting a mini-drone.
