Last Saturday we was pleased to be a part of Dojocon. At MakoEducation we delivered a session on explaining how to code drones. This session was targeted towards adults. We work primarily with young people – but we also offer services for all age groups.

At the start of the event, we listened to opening ceremony talks from Coderdojo and Raspberry Pi’s co-creator Pete Lomas.

One of the keynotes from these presentations was the movement to get more young people and females into STEM. This is something that we are also actively pushing. Leading to us partnering with Wigan STEAM for our all female coding workshop on 24th October.

Our Code-A-Drone workshop was filled with people wanting to learn about coding and technology. We used the performing arts hall to build our very own obstacle course.  Within a group session, these drones were piloted to perform a variety of flying techniques and stunts using commands of code sent through an iPad.

Besides teaching, we also got the chance to learn and meet other experts through panel focusing on digital arts being held throughout the day. Here’s Sean pictured at the 3D Printing session!

It was a fantastic opportunity to meet many people interested in tech. And to see first hand the impact of allowing young people within different communities gets #allhandsontech.
